Mixing questions:

How do I prepare the song for mixing?

There are several ways.

One easy and very fail-proof way, is to create audio-tracks of the song, all starting from the beginning, and then zip and send the zip-file.

You can also send a ProTools session, or an export session from Cubase, Nuendo, Logic or other software; prepare and sent an OMF, Open TL, or XML format.

Also remember to include your current mix, for reference.

More on preparing on this page: prepare for mixing

Or, if you prefer to use ftp, you can have an ftp-account created for the transfer.

What if I would like anything changed in the mix?

Easy, you'll get revisions until you are totally happy with the result.
Just send an email with the notes for what you would like changed, and you'll get the next version with the new changes.
We'll repeat this until you are totally happy, so no stress here, you'll get it to sound exactly like you want.

Do I need mastering after having had a song mixed at NFL Produksjoner?

There should be no need for mastering of the individual song after receiving the mix.

However, when doing an album that will end up on a cd, there will be need for mastering;

  • for setting up the cd index start points and the trimming of each song

  • for entering the ISRC-code and CD-Text,

  • and for possible small sonic adjustments from song-to.song, to make sure the album flows smoothly and that if feels like an album.

If you need mixing for a complete album, you can have a special deal that includes the mastering process for the songs, send me an email and let me know what you're after and how many songs you need mastering for.

When will the mix of my song be ready?

The mix will usually be ready from 1-3 days to within a week.

When the payment and the files for the song are received, you will receive an email with a date for when you can expect the mix to be ready.

When ordering mixes of many songs at once, it might take 1-3 weeks.

Is there an overview of the whole process of having a song mixed?

Yes, here is one example with steps:

  • prepare the song or songs for mixing, according to instructions.
  • send your files via my YouSendIt dropbox or ftp

  • pay at Paypal
When you press the 'Buy Now' button you will get redirected to PayPal where you can choose quantify, and pay either via your Paypal account—if you have one— or with a credit card, if you don't have a Paypal account.
  • you'll get an email confirmation with estimated date for when the mix is ready

  • you'll get the mix at the given date (you will get an email with a download link).

  • then either accept the mix as finished, and the job is finished, or:

  • request changes, and send an email with specifications

We'll repeat these two last steps until your happy with the results.

I want to mix several songs, should I order all at once, or should I order one and one?

If you have a full album of songs, send me an email and get a special quote, or use the price quote form.

Is there anything I should consider, when I want something changed in a mix?

I suggest you read this page with suggestions on how to give feedback on mixing, when requesting changes:
http://www.nflproduksjoner.com/give-mixing-feedback.html

Will I be able to get a non-mastered versions of each mix?

The song will infact be mixed with the final sound in mind, so there will be no separate mastering stage after mixing one and one song.
So, there will not be a non-mastered version of the mix available, that will sound different than the mixed version, and for one and one song, you will not need any mastering.
Still, the mix will be done down to a 24-bit file, and dithered down to 16-bit from there, so there will exist a 24-bit file (suitable for the compilation of a full album) and if you'd like, you can have that sent to you, after you have approved of a version.
